A Love Note From Me To You

Hey Therapist,

I wanted to take a moment to share a little bit about my why (just in case we aren’t friends yet!) and why I care so much about this work.

Several years ago, I was working as a mental health OT, running my own practice in the Northern Territory. The air was dry and hot, and everything around me was stained red form the earth. I started working out in remote NT, because there was a deep desire inside to make a difference. And that desire had kept pushing me along this far. But despite how much I loved my work, something inside me was shifting.

Therapists were coming and going, often lasting less than six months before burning out. I watched as passionate professionals, full of ambition, were drained by isolation, exhaustion, and overwhelm. And as much as I tried to fight it, I could feel the same thing happening to me. After 5 years of running my practice and 7 years as an OT, I was completely drained.

I was working more than ever, fully booked, with a waitlist that ‘seemed’ to prove I was successful. But what looked good on paper didn’t reflect how I felt. I was running on empty. My mental health, my energy—everything that made me me—was falling apart.

I had created a version of success that came at the cost of myself.

And I didn’t know how much longer I could keep it up. I knew something had to change. And that something was me. I had to take a step back, take a beat and let go of what I thought success what supposed to look at. And make some really hard, tough decisions that would forever impact the way my business (and life) ran. And so I did. And let me tell you, that sucked.

But with time (and tears!) slowly, veryyyy slowly I started to rebuild my business from the ground up. I had to slow down and reshape everything—not just the way I worked but the way I lived.

It was the hardest 18 months I’ve ever faced. But through some of the toughest times, I found glimmers of growth—professionally and personally. I had to learn - AND unlearn an awful lot. I discovered that you can’t expand and transform your business without expanding and transforming yourself in the process too.

Now? My business is not only so much more aligned with my purpose/purposeful but it is also thriving. And so am I.

We’re creating real impact, we’re more profitable, and I’ve reclaimed my freedom too.

This is the heart of the Freedom Therapist Club: to help other therapists, like you, find that same sense of balance, freedom, and purpose in their work. Whether you're looking to scale your business or find a more sustainable way to serve your clients, If you take anything from this, I hope it is that it can be done, and that is available to you too. You don’t have to burn yourself to the ground in the process.

I hope this checklist begins serve as a permission slip to how that ‘could’ look in your business too.

With love and freedom,

Xx
Mia
